Life is good :)

The boy had pink eye recently and of course I couldn't help but take a picture... or two :)

The boy got pretty sick of this and let me know that he was shutting the opperation down.

Well I had a great long post about why this monday was the best Monday I think I may have ever had. It decided to erase itself before I could do anything about it. But that's ok. I'll tell you the gist. I love my life and I am finally starting to love myself again. My son and husband are the biggest blessings in my life and I know now that I'm being the mother God intended me to be. We have a long road ahead of us and I know things will be hard and there may be moments that I struggle but it will be more than worth it in the end.

I love my little boy!

Calling all those who really really really dislike their local DMV!`

WARNING: This post is most certainly going to be a rant/vent. If you don't want to read it I totally understand.

S
o as you can probably tell I'm not happy with my latest DMV experience and here's why;
First it was nearly impossible to find! Why? It's located inside the Utah State Fairgrounds...... WHY ON EARTH!?!?!?!?!? No idea. After looking up the location online and then calling family to look it up again because the address I got sent me somewhere weird and then driving in circles for almost an hour I finally saw a ridiculously tiny sign inside the fairground parking lot pointing the way. Who ever decided that this particular location was a good idea deserves to be beat and whoever made the sign deserves it just as much if not more.

Then when I get inside, I had already filled out the paperwork mind you, I was told that my small Birth Certificate Card (the only one I've ever had in my possession for the last 20.99726 years) was not adequate and that I needed to go and get a 'real' one. $18 later I was back at the DMV.

Then I needed two pieces of mail; the only mail I get are the ones labeled "to our neighbor" or medical bills which happen to all look exactly alike and the man at the front desk informed me wouldn't count for reasons I cannot explain. I went out to my car and found the nastiest, dirtiest, most crumpled piece of mail I could find, which mind you was just another piece of medical mail and took that back in, somehow this worked. I'm not complaining that it worked just that they have to make it so hard!

I get my picture taken which is absolutely terrible; is my face really that fat now? Holy cow I have a long face and unnaturally huge forehead! Not to mention all the makeup in the world couldn't cover up the bags under my eyes or change the fact that I now look like I have two lazy eyes due to my lack of sleep.

The guy proceeds to print my paper copy forgetting to change my name taking up more time to go back and fix it and then....To top off the whole trip..... My old DL expires tomorrow; on my birthday.... my 21st birthday so I had to come in today and now for the next 5 years I will posses a card that states I am under 21 until a date that will precede me actually getting my card for 4-6 weeks. Honestly!? Come on people! Work with me! I have less than 12 hours till the whole becoming an 'adult' event and I will be questioned on my age until my 26th birthday because I came in a whole 12 hours early.

Lets just say that today hasn't been the best day ever but all things considered I'm still alive, I have a beautiful baby boy that is almost 4 months old and I have a husband who loves me even when I haven't managed to do my hair or makeup or get dressed in the past week.

Enough now

Heaven

Every day I get to watch my sweet angel sleep, eat, cry, and sleep some more and I love it! I LOVE being a mom. Yes, I get practically nothing done. Yes, I lose huge amounts of sleep. Yes, I don't have time to shower or eat sometimes. Yes, it's incredibly hard. Yes, yes, and yes, It is absolutely worth it. I am convinced that there is nothing better in the whole wide world.
I love how he'll fall back asleep if I play with his hair, how he smiles when he's dreaming, that he sleeps in all the same funny positions as my husband, when he just wants to cuddle with me, that neither one of us gets any sleep when Griff is gone, all his little noises and sounds and well everything, I just love everything.

See?! I do have a belly!

See? See? See! Ignore the face above the belly but I had to post proof to everyone that I do look pregnant and not too bad for being 31 weeks if I do say so myself :)
I promise I looked better when I left the house but hours in the wind and heat changed that pretty fast :(
what do you all think about Griff's beard? he hasn't shaved since football camp, I don't blame him since he'd leave at 6am and return at 10pm, who wants to shave when you can sleep?

(This picture is from Fan Fest thanks to Z. Wade and dad's cool new phone) Mom and Dad came up and spent the day with me since Griff was gone almost all day (what else is new?) we had a great time people watching and waiting for the Football Team to show up. Then Griff reported back to the football facility and mom and dad treated me to lunch at Noodles, it was really good!

Well, I'm bored so I imagine you are too, I'll leave you until next time.

AHHH!

I almost bit into my worst nightmare! No, seriously!
Being the pregnant woman that I am I really like to stay away from foods that are even slightly questionable in what my stomach or digestive system will think of them. That being said I was rather excited to eat my last plum (I only bought three and I bought them 3 days ago), my kitchen area is really dark and I hadn't turned on the lights but why do you need lights to eat fruit? I grabbed the plum and noticed it was really soft, I absentmindedly turned it over and all the juice leaked out! This now required lights. Some of the juice was on my hand so I did what any normal fruit loving person did and licked it off, waste not, BAD IDEA! It was rotten! Smelled .... terrible, I leave it at terrible for you since my stomach is turning writing about it. I went to the sink to inspect the mess and well I opened up a completely bad, moldy plum. SEE!?!
Now I'm timidly eating a peach but I think I'm going to chuck this one too and just go with a banana.

Dinner is Served ... :)

From this: (Spaghetti Squash)

To this: (Cooked Spaghetti Squash)
To this: Dinner!

This is supposed to be much healthier than using actual noodles for a pasta dish like this. They taste really good, not anything like the actual thing but I think I could get used to them, they're lighter than noodles and make my stomach and head feel better about eating Spaghetti. Oh and I forgot to mention that this is easier than cooking real noodles :) no watching the pan or scrapping them off the bottom, just pop it in the microwave and let it cook!

Loves and happy eating!

Soldering!

I'm officially addicted!

I saw these charms at the local fair and wanted to buy every single one I saw but they were kinda expensive and I couldn't validate it so instead I headed to google to learn how to make them on my own and talked my husband into letting me spend a little money which has been very worth it so far :)

I've made 7 charms (with plans to make tons more) and at the 'store bought' price that would have cost me anywhere from $35-$70 ..... I haven't even spent the base price tee hee! totally worth it!!!!! I'm still not as good at it as I want to be but I've come a LONG way from my first one which was gifted to my sister, sorry, I promise to replace that sad little one with a better one :)

these two are are .5 in x 1.5 in and the top one says LOVE one the back side. the tree one is just black on both sides; I didn't want any details besides the tree and just kept it really simple.

The 'JL' one measures 1 in x 1 in and has a hand drawn Dragonfly on the back for my aunt and her love of the bug. The 'Lizzy' one is 1 in x 1.5 in. and has patterned paper similar to that of the one above that Lizzy picked out of my stash. I do all the glass cutting, hand draw all the lettering, and solder the whole thing together. I make them out of a thin glass so they're not as heavy as some you normally find which are only comfortable as necklaces because they will smack you in the hand and kinda hurt as a bracelet.

I'm proud of myself for being able to do this and now to make my mother proud I'm going to devote the same amount of time to cleaning my house haha!

New ..... stuff

So, We're in our new apartment but pictures will have to wait until everything is unpacked and I can find the cable for my camera and actually upload some haha!

the house/apartment is new.

the horrid football schedule is new :( to give you an idea of just how horrible it is Griff leaves at about 6am and returns around 1pm for a break but doesn't actually come home for the day until about 10pm. It is super hard for me to have him be gone that long and not know when he's really going to be home; if I know he's going to be gone at a normal practice I can mentally make myself ok with him being gone from time a to time b but for these two weeks it's never the same, I can't make a schedule and I have a really hard time with it. His break is never at the same time and he never gets home at the same time so I find myself sitting on my couch just waiting to hear his key in the door. I think I have a case of separation anxiety and sadly I thought that only happened to small children.....

I've made some more hair accessories :)I've also learned to Solder :) it's really fun but I need some serious practice to get my charms to look the way I want them to.

Well, that's going to be all for now,

skirt skirt, I made a skirt :)

So I've been crafty lately and I promised I'd post the things I've done so here goes!

I've wanted a circle skirt for a long time now and I figured I could make one easy enough. Six cuts later, some pinning and sewing I had done it!

You can't tell from the picture ( I had to use my phone because my camera is dead ) but it's a very pretty plum color. So all layed out it looks really cute and fun but I made it out of Jersey knit material (so it would stretch over the growing belly and fit after the baby arrives) which is a great comfy matterial but it looked like a limp rag around my body and I was convinced that it was a lost cause.

I was pouting over the loss when I looked at my lap to find the skirt bunched a little to I pinned it and stood up; SO COOL! It hung really nicely so I proceeded to pinch and pin all the way around until I found the pattern I liked and then stiched all of the gathers in place.

I love the final result!

Firsts!

Here's a list of some 'Firsts' in this pregnancy;

obviously it's my first pregnancy :P
I first saw the baby at 10 weeks
In the same ultrasound he was perfectly still untill he started kicking like he was running a marathon. This marathon only lasted a few seconds and then he was perfectly still again.
I felt my first kick at 16 weeks while sitting on the couch at work.
We think the first time I felt hickups was at about 20 weeks.
At 20 weeks and 3 days we descovered that he was in fact a boy.
This is the first time in my life that I've had heartburn and I really don't like it.
By aprox 22 weeks I was noticing his first responses to things outside the womb; he kicks when Griff leaves in the morning and kicks when Griff puts his hands on my stomach.
At 24 weeks I saw his face for the first time (in an ultrasound).
25 weeks marks not only where I am now but also the first time he has moved for long periods of time; today he kicked and rolled over one spot on my side for 25 min! It was very entertaining and yes, I sat there and just smiled the whole time. Who needs Tivo? I have a kid! Well Fetus :)

Changes!!!!

So my life is full of changes right now and I'm working on more changes too.

I've finally changed the look of my blog.

I've made a resolution to update at least once a week. (please be patient as I work into this since we've seen how well I've done lately haha!)

I'm moving to a new apartment where Griff and I will be able to begin to really build a home together and I'm beyond excited! For those that don't know we've been living in his grandparents basement; not that I don't love it here and everything but I will be able to expand from a bedroom and bathroom to a full apartment with two bedrooms, a bathroom, my own kitchen, living room and walls I can decorate to my style and hearts content!

Packing; packing totally counts as change :)

The biggest change in my life right now is the ever growing Roblecito. He weighs about a pound now and he's about a foot tall. If you're still confused; I'm pregnant, it's a boy and I'm 24 weeks and 5 days or in other words 6 months along! Yes, I realize that I should have talked about this sooner but with everything going on I've lost track of time and slacked off. Only under the recent circumstance have I been able to to really think about the blog thing. Present circumstance being bed rest, now granted it's only for a week but still, I have a ton of time and not much to do so what do I do? Play games on the pod, sleep, eat, sew what little scraps of fabric I can get my hands on, wait for Griff to get home and entertain me or just talk to me, watch movies and then it hit me; *thought* "You have totally forgotten to update your blog!" * So here I am repenting and doing my best to start again.

I know this is not entertaining at all but I'm going to try and write more often and maybe even get my camera up and running again so that I can show you all the nifty crafts I've been working on over the last while.

Three Months!

So I know this post is not only long in coming but also late, sorry!

As the title says Griff and I have been married for three months now! It is so crazy and so amazing all wrapped together perfectly.

I'll try to update you all on the things we have been doing, so here goes:

We went to Canada not too long ago for the weekend to see the Muniz family be sealed in the temple. It was very intimidating for me as I was definitely a language minority but regardless it was an amazing experience. I also met a very amazing man; he knows an incredible amount about the gospel and well .... everything! We stayed with Tom for the one night we spent in Canada and by the time we left in the morning I was almost in tears because I felt like I was leaving a lifelong friend.

I'm now working as a nanny.... again (for those who didn't know). This job is far from anything I'm used to; I work for a doctor and she is on-call for 13-24 hrs so during that time I sit in my room in case she has to deliver a baby or check on a patient. Most of my time is spent on my computer which means I really have no excuse for never updating my blog but alas I am a student too :P

Griff lately has been extra sensitive and ultimately adorable. With his crazy football schedule leaving the house by 5am some mornings and not returning home till after 6pm practically everyday I have been missing him more than ever. Then add my shifts on top of that where I don't see him at night (my shifts either go from 7am to 7 am or 6pm to 7am four of five times a month). We both have class too so that fills the time in between and honestly makes me quite irritable and just a sobbing mess when I'm alone and he's gone, yes, I honestly cry when he leaves me. Anyways, he knows that I've been having a hard time with this situation and has become super-husband; he calls me when I'm at work and reads to me till I fall asleep, I have a really hard time sleeping away from him and this is the only way I fall asleep.
When, on the rare occasion, we have a day together we never run errands alone; it takes longer, yes, but time is so very precious and he knows that it makes the time apart less 'bad'.
I also have been getting stressed with school, homework, and housework; Griff will try to do little things while I'm at my night class so that when I come home we can have dinner and relax for a bit before we have to go to bed. One day in particular I was extremely stressed and needed to write a paper as well as finish the laundry and the cleaning so Griff told me to work on my paper and he'd "race" me to finish things around the house. He did all of the laundry and made me the best comfort food ever; a grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich, it may sound gross but it is something my daddy used to make me and I haven't had it in years. It's like chicken noodle soup when you have a cold, it just makes you feel better. He knew I was stressed past my ears and starving and trying to get everything done so he just stepped up, he then told me to get cleaned up and took me to dinner 'just because'. I love him sooo much and I can't imagine spending precious time with anyone but him.

So I guess I should have named this post "I love my husband more than anything in the whole world" but I didn't :P

Dinner is Served!

I've found the perfect way to procrastinate homework! COOKING!!!! Yay!

Again I turned to my new friend Super Cook and today's result is Double-Baked Broccoli Cheese Potatoes :D

So simple I didn't really measure anything
you need:
  • potatoes
  • milk
  • cheese
  • garlic salt (optional) **Garlic salt happens to be my favorite spice**
  • pepper
  • broccoli
  • butter
First bake the potatoes: clean them and poke holes and then make a small/shallow cut all the way around so that it's easier to cut them in half later, don't cut too deep as it will make the guts kind of.... hard. then either bake them in the oven or if you're impatient like me use the microwave.

while that's going on mix a little milk; roughly 1/3 c per 2 potatoes, two dollops of butter (hey, I didn't say this was a healthy meal :P ), finely chopped broccoli; about a stem per potato, 1/3c of cheese, pepper and other seasonings to taste.

when the potatoes are done baking carefully cut them in half and scoop the guts in with the cheese and broccoli mix and mash mash mash! once it's mixed scoop it back into the potato skins.

Place in the oven at 350 for about 15 min and enjoy!

and I really do mean enjoy, I loved them! plus they're totally affordable on a college budget, yay for starving student meals outside of top ramen!!!

Cooking! YAY!

Ok so I was bored and my class got canceled so I naturally decided to cook something, but alas, I had no idea what to cook so I turned to Google :D Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street BTW

Anyways I found a cool website called: Super Cook (www.supercook.com)
You tell the recipe engine what ingredients you have and it pulls up recipes with only those ingredients! Kinda fun :)

I came across Dutch Babies, read the instructions; looked easy enough, turned on some Owl City and set to work.

You need:
Preheat your oven to 425 and while you're waiting mix the salt, milk and flour until smooth.

add the sugar and eggs one at a time until each is blended well.

when the oven is warm melt the butter in your pan and when the butter is melted pour in the batter. Now you wait 25 min:
I literally sat on my kitchen floor looking through the oven door as my Dutch Babies baked, I'm such a little kid!
Once they finished I quickly opened the oven door only to get a blast of heat to the face and had to wait for the fog on my glasses to clear.
This is the result ^

after adding a little syrup the vote is in: I will certainly make these again and Griff will get to taste them :) plus they have the Carbs for quick energy and protein for muscle recovery (pretty much every meal includes chicken in one form or another for Griff).

Overall I would cook them for about 20 min and possibly use a smaller pan.

Details for those that would ask :)

So after that last post I realized that some of you may be really confused as to where Griff came from and all that stuff so I decided to tell you .... before you asked :) I'm great, I know ;)

Griff and I went to school together from the time he moved to Utah from Cali when he was about 14. I didn't really know him but I knew of him and always thought he was cute. In high school he had a girlfriend and I had a 'boyfriend' but we had some classes together and had plenty of opportunities to talk. We really got to know each other in our English class our senior year and dated a little after the year ended. I really do mean a little, he left shortly after graduation for his mission and I think we went on a grand total of 4 dates. We wrote back and forth for the two years that he was gone but he figured I'd be taken when he got back and I was scared to even consider dating him because he'd be so 'good' and I might not be at the same level.
Well I was taken when he got home but things weren't working out in that relationship and when it ended Griff was right there. We kept things simple at first, casual dates and hanging out for his birthday and then it accelerated like a rocket on it's way to the moon. (ok i realize how cheese that must sound but that's the best analogy I could come up with on the spot)
He's been teaching me Spanish and we read the scriptures in Spanish and English to help with the learning process. During fall football camp he'd call before going to bed and we'd read together over the phone. I love the little things we do together :)
For a while he'd travel back and forth from Salt Lake so that we could do things and when I could I'd drive up to see him after practice. I also got sick a few times and he'd come to see me and bring me medicine if we didn't have it, I loved the fact that every time he came he'd tell me how beautiful I was, I knew I didn't look good but it gave me one more reason to fall in love with him.
It wasn't long before we both knew that we would be getting married but we were both unsure if the other had an answer to that prayer yet. I finally moved back to Salt Lake and three days later we came to the conclusion that we both received the same answer and were definitely going to get married. Two days later classes started and my life became crazy! We talked to our families and set a date to be sealed in the Salt Lake Temple :) It became an official engagement on September 9th, 09/09/09.
Now we're finishing up wedding plans/going crazy trying to make wedding plans and still pass our classes.

Moral of the story: God moves in mysterious ways; neither one of us thought we'd be getting married this soon but when it's right it's right and it's best not to fight it.

The 4th of July and my favorite boy ever: Jack

So, today didn't go as originally planned but that's ok, life happens it's best not to fight it.

I've been with little Jack all day and he's been a cute little addition to my day. We had put him down for a nap and mom had left to take care of some things at my brothers apartment ( I'll explain in a min). He woke up screaming and was pointing around the guest bedroom/office I tried to figure out what was wrong but I couldn't so I did the next best thing and picked him and his goggy (Binky) and held him with me on the couch. He was soon sleeping in my lap and we both got an hour nap in the front room. I loved having him close and snuggled in my arms, I can't wait to have kids of my own someday and I'm going to miss him terribly when he goes to Ohio.
When he woke up for the second time he was crying and pointing again and we finally got it out of him that he wanted his mom, we showed him that her car was gone and that she wasn't there so he proceeded to point and cry. I asked him where he wanted to go and he pointed down the hall, then down the front entry way, out the door, down the steps, down the driveway, to the neighbors, across the street and another house down. It was funny to watch him as I would turn and ask "where now?" he'd think for a second and then give a full arm point in the direction of his choice.

Micah was also in a motorcycle accident today; I wasn't there but my dad was and thankfully there are no serious injuries. I guess he flipped his bike and it landed on top of him. He's in a lot of pain and it took the hospital a few good hours getting all the scrapes cleaned out before he could go home. I am truly thankful for friends, family and guardian angels. Micah's has been working overtime and I can't wait for the day that I can meet him and thank him for keeping my brother in my life. I think it's about time that Micah gives him a break tho ;)

Life as a Nanny :)

Ok, so first off I love my kids and secondly I'd like to give every mother that has helped raise me and anyone else in this world a huge thank you, I don't know how you do it but you're amazing and I just thought I'd let you know (especially my mom).

I was going to get some pictures up of the kids but that will have to wait till a time when I'm more awake.

Last first date in SLC

Some of you may remember me talking about my first date with Kendall, some of you may not, that's not the important part. On February 7th I we went on our first date and well things went from there; I've loved every date and every chance I've had to spend time with him and appreciate it that much more now that I don't get to see him as often as I'd like. *In case you didn't know I moved home for the summer because of job circumstances*
BUT, before I left Salt Lake Kendall took me out on one last date in the city; he practically recreated our first date to a T, down to times and everything minus some extra cuteness :) which I didn't object to in the slightest.

The date started at 7 with a trip to the store to get coconut milk to make curry, we opted out of the mango curry to make Shrimp, Asparagus, 5 Pepper curry which was amazing if I do say so myself. When we headed to the park we were lacking the RC Helicopters that we had 3 months ago but instead revisited all the places we had gone the first time covering the memories and the awkwardness that were no longer there. He even had his jacket for me (again) so I didn't freeze. It was much warmer on this trip but I am the queen of being cold. After the park we went to 7-eleven to test our hot chocolate mixing skills and then made our way to the hospital parking for one of the prettiest views of the city.

Everything was perfect and I loved that he remembered all of the little details. It's going to be a long summer but I know that every time I do get to see him I'll have fun and it'll be a date I remember.

anywho I'm going to the zoo tomorrow! and I need to sleep so I have a chance of waking up tee hee :)
